End of the World and Everything Sucks (but we’ll be ok)

Mask mandates are lifting across the United States. COVID-19 vaccines were distributed to those that chose them. Schools, industries, and places of business are slowly recuperating from the past two years. We are as human beings successfully adapting to living in a surreal new world. A reality where we have to continue living with awareness of the current pandemic and stay informed and prepared for the next threat . When I was my daughter’s age (8) I was ignorant of pandemics and today we have children who can describe what it is, how viruses spread, and know the impact personally that it has on families, education, friendships, and the highest cost of all; death.

Unfortunately, now our country and others throughout the globe are at the brink of a new threat. War. So far, in less than two weeks time since Russia invaded Ukraine almost 2 million Ukrainians have become refugees. Thousands of lives have been lost on both sides, many injured, homes and cities destroyed, trust in the system of international law and world leaders is shaky. It is easy to lose hope and feel overwhelmed by current events and upcoming financial hurdles which can look like your grocery receipt and filling up at the gas station. Do you need to talk with someone? Reach out. If you feel like a friend or family member could benefit from talking about things or feel depression and anxiety yourself I hope you can start up a conversation. If you feel like you need to talk to somebody confidentially please reach out to Community Counseling Solutions for mental health services. On their website you can find the locations in your area and even make an appointment online.

When I have a client on the massage table everything is kept confidential and if you feel like talking during your massage and feel comfortable enough to share your thoughts, I will be listening. If you are interested in donating to a charity organization to help Ukrainian refugees scroll to the bottom of this post for a link to Convoy of Hope.

We got this together

Some UPDATES with COUNTRY MASSAGE:

—When Oregon mask mandates lift I will continue taking necessary steps to protect myself and the community from the spread of COVID with my cleaning procedures remaining unchanged.

—Masks will be optional when receiving massage in the prone position but as a provider I will remain masked.

—I will be making some updates on intake forms and remove any unnecessary screening questions that have started to add up since 2020.

—I’m applying to be a part of the EOCCO network (OHP in Eastern Oregon division aka Medicaid.) I won’t find out if I am approved for another 90 days but I am optimistic for the future clients who could become covered through that for massage services.

—I recently applied for MODA as a preferred provider but was DENIED as their coverage of massage therapy doesn’t extend to our service area.

—I will be taking an Active Cupping Techniques class in Ashland, Oregon in April to help me make a decision of whether or not to add CUPPING to my list of services.

—Available now! Use of wireless over the ear high-quality active noise canceling headphones with Bluetooth. Have airpods or other wireless headphones? I welcome you to use them but just ask that calls and messages are turned off during the session to maintain a comfortable uninterrupted environment.

—March Referral Raffle Item is a 12 OZ two-wick Jack Rabbit Candle —Desert Wildflower. Local, handmade, new member of Oregon Frontier Chamber of Commerce!
